Missing Grandma...

grandma

It's only been 5 days and I still can't get the thought of Grandma Dalen out of my mind. Putting a slideshow together for you has been kind of hard because it makes me reminisce about times we spent together with our family. Just like the picture above, from back in the day. I forgot where this was, probably somewhere around Carson. I use to remember you when you smiled and sometimes your dentures would fall out because you had the biggest smile or maybe it was because you were so happy to see us. I will always remember that smile Grandma...

R.I.P. Grandma Dalen (1912 - 2006)

grandma dalen

Today was a very sad day for the Cabebe family (my mom's side), as one of our oldest members has passed away. She is on her journey to be with GOD as she would put it, but we all know that you will be once again reunited with your true love, Grandpa Castor. I would like to thank my grandmother for all the strong words she's said to her 20+ or so grandchildren/great-grandchildren and for being very supportive with whatever we did. I will always keep you in my heart and prayers. I just wish I was there 5 minutes eariler so I could've talked to you for a few moments before you passed. She passed away today at 3:03pm and I got there at 3:08pm. Once again, thank you Grandma Dalen your caring nature, beautiful smile and strong will to live will never be forgotten. I will Love You Always, Ryanboy....

A very chill weekend

This past President's day weekend I stayed home and relaxed. I didn't even go outside at all due to the weather being so crappy. Being home has it's good side, no money was spent and I was able to get all the rest I wanted. I was able to catch the NBA All-star events held in Houston and also watch the Olympic events being televised.

The slam dunk contest this year was fun to watch. I thought the judges were favoring the shorter dunker, Nate Robinson over Andre Iguodala because he was able to dunk at his height.

The sucky thing was that I didn't have Monday off from work, but it's all good work today wasn't too hard. I just hope this week goes by fast.

What I learned about Japanese Kids.

Since I reserved my spot for Japan, I was looking around the web about Japanese culture. Also, Lou sent me a link about a school teacher who wrote an article about his students (Link to article). Then what got me was something new about Japanese kids. I know this will be some fun game to play, but just read the description. I hope they can handle butt darts!

Kancho
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kancho is a game or trick often played in Japan by young school-aged children; it is performed by clasping the hands together so the index fingers are pointing out and attempting to insert them into someone's anal region when the victim is not looking. It is similar in spirit to the wedgie or a goosing in North America.

Illustrated example of a kancho.

It has been popular in Japan for years but has recently become popularised in other countries by the anime Naruto, where it has been called the Thousand Years of Pain/Death technique. It is also known in South Korea as "ttong chim", "ddong chim" or "dong chim" and in the Philippines as "tumbong", the Filipino word for rectum. In Japan, there is a gameshow where a celebrity routinely kanchōs random people.

In certain countries, the act of kancho may be illegal and considered sexual harassment, or even sexual assault, although children are given more leniency. In the USA a child at school performing the act would probably receive counselling, detention, suspension, and/or a parent-teacher conference; for an adult the act would likely result in an arrest. While the practice is known in South Korea, there have been cases where adults performing it have been arrested. However, in Japan it is considered a childish prank rather than a criminal act.

The word is sometimes used by English speakers in Japan who have some knowledge of Japanese language in a prank as a light form of hazing aimed at people who have recently come to Japan. When asking for the bill at a resturant in Japan (one way of asking for the bill in Japanese is "kanjo kudasai" or "Please give me the bill") the victim is told to say, "Kancho kudasai!" or "Please give me a kancho!" which usually results in hysterical laughter by the waiter.

Kancho is also the name of a brand of chocolate-filled biscuits produced by Lotte Confectionaries.

Up Late @ Night

This past Monday I couldn't sleep. I tried watching tv to get sleepy, but to no avail it kept me awake. Then, I tried covering my eyes with my pillow, but still could not fall asleep. I tried looking at my alarm clock so that it would trick me in wanting to fall asleep, but the damn thing kept me awake. I don't know what it was that night, but I didn't have any reason to be excited for anything the next day. There was no trip or nor anything big going that day, it was just work. Then I tried looking at the stars up in my ceiling, but all I saw was a blur because my eyesight isn't that great. I tried sleeping in different positions, face down... didn't work, on my back side... didn't work, then on my side (my usual sleeping position, didn't work also. So I thought going outside in the cold would shock me and get me sleepy, that didn't work. When I got back in, I was wide awake and tried doing some pushups. This was when I started feeling fatigue. I just worked out a little bit and then when I was done doing a few sets, I checked the time and it was a quarter til 3. Damn, it was almost 3 am and I should be fast asleep. I drank a cup of water, then went back to my bed and finally I believe around 3 am, I fell asleep. I woke up to my alarm clock around 730am and I wasn't in a good mood. About 4 hours rest and a lot of driving ahead wasn't a good thing. I guess that's how it is sometimes. I hope to sleep earlier tonight and get at least 7 hours rest.
